"As desired, besides commemorating the occasion of 25 years of my reign, this Silver Jubilee celebration also has another objective, namely to show our gratitude to Allah Subhanahu Wata´ala for His blessing enabling this governance to run well and smoothly.
In this view, I feel it is appropriate to do something that can act as a sign or symbol of gratitude, where the benefits can be enjoyed by the subjects and residents.
So at this happy moment, I am glad to announce the formation of a Foundation which will become a lasting momento of my reigning period. This foundation will function in accordance with the principles or objectives specified, which is as a Charity or Contribution of my own and members of my family. It can then contributes to the benefit of religion, welfare, education and other similar causes.
The Foundation will then be called upon as Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah."
